Top of the league

I see my old team from the mainland is doing well. Cardiff City, under the tutelage of Dave Jones, have risen to the top of the second tier of the football league. This is new territory for a lot of the players, but with some clever signings over the summer it seems there's a spine to the team that has great experience and will not be cowed by being in the driving seat. Allied to the fearlessness of youth, the team can certainly sustain their challenge over the whole season.

Shenks the regimental goat won through in the final of the animal showdown, though not before having the shock of his life. The power of the komodo caught Shenks cold and the match was almost won within the first 30 seconds, the lizard clamping its jaws onto Shenks' head. Fortunately Shenks' horns acted to prevent a crushing of his skull. Using the clinch to his own ends, Shenks thought through the best way to counter the huge lizard and came up with a novel method to turn the match, actually biting the komodo's tongue. This brought the match to a pretty swift conclusion, the komodo yielding soon after the move. There was a little bit of blood, but both creatures are doing well and have advised us they were willing participants in the affair.

Here's Shenks during the trophy ceremony, with Shirley Bassey whoring herself for some publicity:
